We’re looking for a Telecommunications Aerial Make Ready Engineer in the Buffalo, NY and surrounding areas to join our team and help connect America. Under the direction of an Engineering manager, our Make Ready Engineers are responsible for producing cost-effective engineered designs for construction to place messenger strand, anchors, fiber/copper and other attachments while complying with national and local regulations surrounding aerial construction. This is a position with field visits in the Buffalo, NY and surrounding areas so candidate must reside or have plans to relocate to the Buffalo, NY and surrounding areas. What you’ll do… - You will work in various customer specific systems to produce cost-effective engineered design for construction to place messenger strand, anchors, fiber/copper and other attachments while complying with national and local regulations surrounding aerial construction - You will need to be able to design an aerial path from point A to point B based on engineering best practices - You will identify the necessary requirements to successfully attach fiber/copper cables to a poles - You will engineer in the public right of way and on private property, avoiding conflict with existing facilities - You will review utility poles and field notes to determine most accurate make ready solution - You will provide solutions for poles that fail pole loading or are not good candidates for new attachments - You will produce make ready worksheets and prints - You will coordinate with project teams and engineers to ensure the accuracy, completeness and delivery of all work - You will research and document requirements on aerial construction by pole owner or customer for whom the work is being performed - You will act as a subject matter expert for make ready engineering, both internally and externally to HHS’s customers

The OSP Engineer is responsible for designing copper/fiber work orders, interacting with customers/developers and municipalities. The OSP Engineer is responsible for drafting-specific tasks for multiple telecommunication projects from preliminary design drawings and/or field sketches to basic design computations; organizing the layout of plans, material codes, details and units. Qualified candidates will have the ability to secure Right of Way permits from local jurisdictions and authorities, determine existing utilities in work areas, and effectively translate sketches, verbal and written information, into CAD/MicroStation drawings. Responsibilities: - Plans and prepares drawings for construction of new, and removal or rearrangement of existing, overhead or underground lines, cables, and conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities - Analyzes traffic loads, available and existing lines, and estimates or forecasts of projected traffic to determine new construction or rearrangements and removals required - Selects routing of lines and equipment required for work projects. Prepares detailed construction and installation drawings, estimates equipment, labor, and material costs. Initiates work authorization request and submits request with substantiating drawings and documents to management for approval. - Locate, sketch and document detailed information of OSP facilities: cables, poles, ground structures, terminals, manholes and equipment. - Measure attachment heights, span distances and structure dimensions. - Measure distances from existing/proposed OSP (outside plant construction) facilities. - Take measurements, field notes, and produce sketches for TCP design. - Identify bonding and ground requirements
